Capitol Skyline Hotel
Celia San Miguel The phrase
"all-American" generally conjures up images of apple pie and patchwork
quilts. For the design savvy, the term is also synonymous with
Ralph Lauren's classic look. So how better to interpret the look of
D.C.'s Capitol Skyline Hotel than Scott Sanders, former director of
interior design at Polo Ralph Lauren? Building on the original
design, Sanders looked to colonial decor for inspiration. The
result is a posh enclave that steers clear of boutique hotel gimmicks
and stays true to a no-fuss aesthetic. Located only six blocks
from the Capitol, the hotel's 203 rooms are decorated in deep blues and
boast such nationalist touches as reproductions of presidential
portraits and pictures of the Constitution. The geometric exterior
was kept intact, preserving the hotel's retro charm. Check in and
feel like a patriot--our forefathers would've wanted it that way. From
$120.
